My pet gripe is game-shows (etc) that talk about "Math" or "Maths" when they mean "Arithmetic"
Arithmetic is to maths as chisels are to cabinet-making.
I try this one on folk. If you can add up the odd numbers sequentially, you are doing arithmetic. If you notice something about the sequence of answers you get you are (beginning to) do maths.
